The everyday parking rules

Downtown first

Use the City of Bellingham's current downtown parking pages and posted signs for meters, public facilities and enforcement hours. Major events can change demand and make arriving early more valuable.

Fairhaven is its own parking pattern

Historic Fairhaven uses a mix of on-street parking and public options. The district's visitor traffic, train/ferry activity and festivals can create very different conditions from downtown.

WWU uses campus-specific rules

University lots, visitor parking and event access should be checked through WWU. A downtown parking rule does not automatically apply to Carver Gym, Harrington Field or other campus destinations.

Joe Martin Field and Civic Field are event-driven

Bells baseball and Civic Field events can concentrate arrivals around the sports complex. Use current team or venue guidance for game-day instructions.

Waterfront plans are easier when you choose a segment

Taylor Dock/Boulevard Park, Fairhaven and downtown/Waypoint Park are not one parking zone. Choose the waterfront section first, then use the nearest official parking guidance rather than trying to move the car between every viewpoint.

How parking appears on event pages

Every first-party event page includes a parking section. When we can confidently identify a major venue or district, the page shows the most relevant stable parking pattern for that location. For large sports, arena, festival or special-event dates, we deliberately avoid guessing and send you to the current organizer or city plan.

This gives you a useful starting point without turning an older parking article into bad directions on the night you actually need it.
